At Maplebrook, creativity is more than just a pastime—it’s a way of life that brings our community together. Recently, our residents embraced their artistic talents to create a stunning display for our notice board, one that celebrates not only individual creativity but also the strong bonds and friendships that define our home.
Working side by side, residents used vibrant tissue paper and cherished personal photographs to craft a dynamic, colourful display. The result was a visual “tree of life” that beautifully introduces our community and tells the story of our shared journey. Each carefully chosen photograph represents a moment, a memory, or a smile that contributes to the warmth and uniqueness of Maplebrook. The project allowed everyone to express themselves while highlighting the deep connections that have grown over time.
The display quickly became a focal point within the home. Residents often pause to admire one another’s photos, sparking conversations and reminiscing about past experiences. This common point of interest has not only enhanced social interactions but has also become a symbol of unity, making Maplebrook feel even more like a family. New residents are greeted with this vibrant display, instantly feeling a part of our close-knit community as they see the legacy of shared stories and experiences.
A display like this offers countless mental health benefits by nurturing a strong sense of identity and giving others a clearer understanding of who a person truly is. It serves as an emotional anchor, consistently reminding individuals of their roots, their personal identity, and the loved ones who care for them. Creating the display also has physical benefits like boosting cognitive skills, and helping to improve dexterity.
As we continue to welcome new members into our Maplebrook family, this “tree of life” will serve as a heartfelt reminder of our commitment to creativity, connection, and community. It is a living, evolving piece of art that grows with each new story and every shared smile.
Kate Ingram, Manager at Maplebrook, shared: “At Maplebrook, every creative endeavour is an opportunity to connect, celebrate, and enrich the lives of our residents. This project has had a really positive impact throughout the home with both staff and residents.”
