Residents and staff at Maplebrook Care Home have enjoyed a week-long programme of events as part of the nationally recognised Glad To Care Week, highlighting the outstanding dedication of care workers across the sector.
Spearheaded by Maplebrook staff, residents have participated in a series of meaningful activities, designed to align with the specific needs supported within the home. The team has hosted a group fitness session focused on mindfulness and a pizza-making cookery class offering a rich sensory experience for residents while promoting independence and social interaction. The pizza cookery class was integrated with a staff competition to develop a “creative dish” in an effort to encourage unity and camaraderie between residents and their care team.
Maplebrook’s staff have also shared why they are thankful to work in the sector, with one staff member, Ellis Marambire stating: “I love looking after those that are vulnerable. It makes me feel as if I have a purpose.”
Commenting on the care home’s Glad to Care Week activities, Kym Hubbard, Peripatetic Manager, said: ‘I am so proud to work with such a dedicated and experienced team but it goes much deeper than that. The team genuinely cares for each of our residents and regularly goes above and beyond to make a positive difference to our residents’ lives, which is demonstrated through the thoughtful activities the team has prepared this week.
“Caring for someone’s loved one is one of the highest privileges and with my amazing team I know that Maplebrook Care Home will continue to offer the very best in first-class care’.
Maplebrook resident, Anthony Twigg, aged 72 added “ I am glad to live at Maplebrook because of the friendliness of the staff, that are always there to care for me! I am always made to feel loved and safe, and I wouldn’t want be anywhere else”.
