Dementia Care

At Maplebrook Care Home, we provide tailored care and support for older adults living with dementia, including those who also have additional mental health or physical care needs. Our dementia care is delivered on Silver, our dedicated floor designed to offer a calm, homely and safe environment where residents can feel secure and valued. We understand that living with dementia affects everyone differently, which is why every person receives a personalised care plan shaped around their life story, routines and preferences.

Dementia can bring challenges, but it doesn’t take away the need for connection, purpose and enjoyment. Our team is trained to support people with compassion and patience, helping to reduce anxiety and confusion while encouraging independence wherever possible. From daily activities and therapeutic spaces to thoughtful communication and meaningful moments, we focus on what each person can still do and enjoy.

What is Dementia Care?

Dementia care involves supporting people who are living with memory loss, confusion, changes in behaviour and other symptoms that affect daily life. It may include help with personal care, medication, mobility, and ensuring a safe and structured routine. For many families, there comes a point when caring for a loved one with dementia at home becomes too difficult, and a care home with the right expertise and environment can provide the reassurance and support they need.

Our approach includes life story work, engaging activities, gentle routines and sensory spaces to help residents feel grounded and calm. We also support families through the emotional journey of dementia, providing regular communication and helping them remain an important part of their loved one’s life.

Dementia Care at Maplebrook Care Home

Silver, our dementia care floor, has been thoughtfully laid out to support orientation, reduce distress and promote confidence. Clear signage, comforting décor and familiar routines help residents feel more at ease, while lounges, quiet rooms and activity areas offer opportunities for both social connection and calm. Our care team gets to know each resident well – from their favourite music to their life history – so we can offer truly person-centred care that builds trust and comfort.

From support with daily tasks to one-to-one time in the sensory room or a relaxed session in the salon, we offer a balance of structure and flexibility that reflects each individual’s needs. We also work closely with GPs, memory services and families to ensure care remains consistent and responsive as needs change.
