Mental Health Care

At Maplebrook Care Home, we provide specialist care for adults living with complex and enduring mental health conditions. This includes support for individuals with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder and other diagnoses that may affect daily life, behaviour and emotional wellbeing. Our dedicated mental health floor, Hornbeam, is designed for adults aged 18 to 65 and offers a structured, therapeutic environment where residents can feel safe, respected and supported in a way that’s tailored to their needs.

We understand that every person’s journey with mental health is different. That’s why our team works closely with residents, families and professionals to build trusted relationships and clear, individual care plans. These include therapeutic approaches, daily routines, and realistic goals – whether that’s maintaining stability, developing independence, or working towards a safe return to the community. Our approach combines clinical expertise with kindness, patience and genuine understanding.

What is Mental Health Care?

Mental health support in a care home setting is designed for individuals who need more structured or consistent help than can be provided at home or in the community. This may involve support with emotional regulation, social interaction, managing medication, and coping with symptoms that affect safety or day-to-day functioning. At Maplebrook, we support adults who may have previously struggled in other environments or been considered high risk, providing the consistency and therapeutic support they need to feel safe and heard.

Our aim is to provide not just care, but the foundations for recovery, stability and improved quality of life. We take the time to understand each person’s history, triggers and goals, and we create a personalised pathway that supports both their mental health and physical wellbeing. We also encourage engagement with the wider world, helping residents rebuild confidence through meaningful activities and, where appropriate, community access.

Mental Health Care at Maplebrook Care Home

Our Hornbeam floor offers a calm, supportive and secure space where adults living with mental health conditions can thrive. With increased staffing levels and a specialist model of care, we can provide a highly responsive environment that helps reduce behavioural challenges, manage risks, and create opportunities for positive daily experiences. From helping residents develop coping strategies to supporting life skills and community links, our team focuses on what each individual can achieve – not just the challenges they face.

We work closely with local NHS mental health services, GPs, social workers and families to ensure care is joined-up and consistent. Whether someone is staying with us for longer-term support or following a discharge from hospital, our goal remains the same: to provide a place of stability, safety and hope, where individuals are treated with compassion and empowered to live life on their own terms.
