Complex Nursing Care

At Maplebrook Care Home, we provide round-the-clock complex nursing care for adults living with serious and long-term health conditions. This includes neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease and Huntington’s disease, spinal injuries, Motor Neurone Disease and acquired brain injuries. We also support residents who require more intensive interventions, such as tracheostomy care, BIPAP, CPAP or non-invasive ventilation. Every person is cared for by a skilled, experienced team of nurses and carers who understand the complexities of their condition and provide support with sensitivity and clinical precision.

We know that even when care needs are complex, people still want to feel in control of their daily life, connected to others, and supported in a way that respects their individuality. At Maplebrook, care is always personalised – from medication and mobility to emotional wellbeing and day-to-day routines. Our calm, purpose-built environment offers the space, safety and equipment needed to deliver advanced care, while our friendly, close-knit team helps each resident feel at ease and at home.

What is Nursing Care?

Nursing care is for people who have medical conditions that require ongoing support from qualified nurses as well as trained care staff. This may include physical disabilities, neurological diseases, respiratory support needs or a combination of health issues that affect day-to-day living. Unlike residential care, which offers help with personal care and daily tasks, nursing care includes clinical oversight such as medication management, wound care, monitoring of long-term conditions, and liaison with GPs and hospital teams.

People may come to a nursing home like Maplebrook after a hospital stay, following a diagnosis, or when care at home is no longer safe or manageable. Our team works closely with individuals, families and health professionals to ensure a smooth transition, with clear care plans that reflect both medical needs and personal wishes. The aim of nursing care is not only to support health and comfort, but to maintain dignity, independence and quality of life.

Nursing Care at Maplebrook Care Home

Our complex nursing care is delivered across our top floor, known as Acer, which is designed specifically for adults with high clinical needs. The environment is calm, well-equipped and fully accessible, with everything in place to support safety, comfort and independence. Residents may be living with a progressive condition, recovering from an injury, or receiving long-term care, and our team is trained to provide a wide range of specialist interventions including respiratory support, PEG feeding and palliative care where required.

We use integrated care systems to monitor health and ensure safe, coordinated support at all times, while also making sure that life at Maplebrook remains personal, familiar and fulfilling. From nutritious meals and daily activities to emotional support and companionship, our nursing care goes beyond the clinical, we help people feel safe, respected and cared for.
