Our first Christmas

Maplebrook has looked amazing throughout the festive season. So much effort went into decorating all areas of the care home by staff and residents.

We also received a very generous donation of Christmas trees from Robin Richley and Jaqui York, helping make Maplebrook sparkle even more and look stunning outdoors. The trees were then decorated with the residents’ handmade baubles, adding a special finishing touch.

Elf Day on the 6th of December was a great excuse for staff and residents to get dressed up while supporting Alzheimer’s Day. We had lots of fun on Christmas Jumper Day later in the week, with residents and staff dancing to Christmas music. The staff made a great effort to celebrate this fun day, with many unique jumpers being worn.

We had a seasonal hot chocolate one chilly afternoon, tasting different flavours. The mint, salted caramel and white chocolate were all enjoyed along with the classic milk chocolate.

The Maplebrook Christmas party was a great success, with residents, relatives and staff having a great time celebrating together. We are so lucky at Maplebrook to have such a dedicated team, making sure our events run well.

A pyjama day allowed the residents to relax and enjoy some tasty treats after a few busy days of festivities. Mindful Christmas crafts, including making party hats, Christmas cards, clay modelling and gingerbread houses, also helped everyone unwind, providing calm throughout the season.

Christmas Day began with the exchanging of gifts followed by a delicious traditional Christmas dinner for which we were joined by many of our resident’s loved ones.

Kym Hubbard says, “The Maplebrook team have truly gone above and beyond to ensure our residents enjoyed the festive season to the full. Every team member has contributed and I’m really proud of everyone for making our first Christmas so special.”
