Our Gardening Club

At Maplebrook, activities aren’t only there to give residents something to do or entertain them. They’re an integral part of supporting wellbeing and health, essential for physical, social and mental wellbeing.

We have recently formed a Gardening Club, encouraging residents outside to get fresh air and vitamin D, all whilst learning new skills and knowledge. As well as reducing stress and anxiety, it has been found that gardening helps increase mood and enjoyment, and also gives a sense of achievement, satisfaction and pride from nurturing the plants. We meet regularly, with many residents taking part and socialising together.

Maplebrook’s Activities Lead, says, “The Gardening Club has been a really positive addition to our activities schedule. Both residents and staff are working together to take care of our lovely garden. Already we have been able to make use of the produce grown in our garden, giving everyone involved a great deal of satisfaction.”

Gardening provides sensory stimulation, exercises vital muscle groups and practises dexterity skills. The feel of soil on your hands and a cup of tea with fellow enthusiasts really does make the world a brighter place, bringing a sense of calm to all involved.

We look forward to watching our lovely garden develop and will post regular updates on social media.
