Life at Maplebrook

Life at Maplebrook Care Home is centred around creating a safe, welcoming and stimulating environment where every resident can feel at ease. From the moment you walk through our doors, you’ll notice the warmth of our team and the calm, homely feel throughout the building. Each floor has been thoughtfully designed to meet the needs of the people living there, whether that’s adults with mental health conditions, older people with dementia, or those with complex physical needs. We work closely with each individual to make sure their routine, surroundings and support reflect who they are and what matters to them.

We believe that every day should offer opportunities for connection, comfort and enjoyment. Whether it’s starting the morning with gentle chair yoga, popping into the salon for a haircut or relaxing with a film in the cinema room, there’s always something meaningful to get involved in. For quieter moments, residents can enjoy time in the garden room, share a homemade cake in one of our lounges, or simply catch up on the day’s news with a cuppa. It’s this thoughtful balance of care and independence that helps make Maplebrook feel like home.

En-Suite Bedrooms

Each of our bedrooms at Maplebrook has been thoughtfully designed to offer both comfort and dignity, providing a peaceful space that residents can truly make their own. All rooms are spacious and en-suite, with accessible bathrooms that include built-in shower chairs for ease and safety. Every room features a variable height bed, a smart TV, free Wi-Fi, and lockable built-in furniture, allowing residents to enjoy their personal space with both independence and security. While the rooms come fully furnished to a high standard, we actively encourage residents and families to bring personal touches from home – whether it’s favourite photos, a cosy blanket or a cherished ornament – to help the room feel familiar and welcoming. These private spaces offer a quiet retreat when needed, but also form part of a wider, homely environment where care is always close at hand and comfort is never compromised.

Dining

Mealtimes at Maplebrook are an important part of the day, bringing people together to enjoy good food in a relaxed and social setting. Our on-site chefs prepare fresh, well-balanced meals each day, tailored to suit individual tastes, dietary needs and cultural preferences. Whether someone prefers traditional home comforts or lighter, more modern dishes, there’s always something nourishing and enjoyable on offer. Each floor has its own dining room with a kitchenette and servery area, creating a warm, homely atmosphere where residents can dine at their own pace. We also offer a bistro-style menu and 24-hour access to snacks and drinks, supporting those who prefer to eat at different times of day. For residents who need help with eating or who have more complex nutritional needs, our care team is always on hand to support with dignity and sensitivity. We understand that food isn’t just about nutrition – it’s about enjoyment, routine and choice – and we do everything we can to make every mealtime a positive and personalised experience.

Activities Programme

Staying active and engaged is a vital part of life at Maplebrook, and our dedicated Activities Team work hard to ensure there’s something for everyone to enjoy each day. From group sessions like baking, bingo, arts and crafts, to more physical options like chair yoga, boxercise and gentle movement classes, our programme is designed to support both body and mind. We also offer quieter activities such as reading, music afternoons and one-to-one sessions for those who prefer a more personalised approach. For residents who are unable to join in with group events, we make sure activities are brought to them, ensuring no one ever feels left out. Trips into the community, themed evenings, film nights in the cinema room and time in our calming sensory space all add variety and choice to daily life. Everything is planned around individual care plans, helping residents to build confidence, reduce anxiety and continue enjoying the things that make them feel most like themselves.

Pet Therapy

Sensory Room

Our sensory room offers a calm, therapeutic space designed to support relaxation, reduce anxiety and gently stimulate the senses. Soft lighting, soothing sounds, gentle movement and tactile materials come together to create a peaceful environment where residents can unwind and feel more settled. For individuals living with dementia, mental health needs or neurological conditions, the sensory room can be particularly beneficial – helping to improve mood, encourage engagement, and provide a safe space during moments of restlessness or distress. Sessions in the sensory room are often included as part of a resident’s personalised wellbeing plan, and can be used on a one-to-one basis or as part of a small group. It’s just one of the many ways we create moments of comfort and connection throughout the day.

Private Gardens

Our garden spaces offer a breath of fresh air and a peaceful place to relax, socialise or simply enjoy the changing seasons. With easy access from our ground floor and garden room, the patio and outdoor areas are thoughtfully laid out to be safe and accessible for all, including those using mobility aids or wheelchairs. Whether it’s a quiet morning coffee in the sunshine, an afternoon of planting and potting, or spending time with visiting family and friends, the garden provides a welcome sense of calm and connection with nature. It’s also a lovely setting for seasonal events and small group activities when the weather allows. Just like the rest of Maplebrook, our gardens are an extension of home – inviting, well cared for, and always open to enjoy.

Gardening at Maplebrook

Hair Salon & Treatment Room

Our in-house hair salon is a place where residents can relax, feel pampered and enjoy a bit of normality and routine. Whether it’s a weekly blow-dry, a tidy-up at the barber, or a manicure at the nail bar, our salon team is here to help residents look and feel their best. These simple pleasures can make a real difference to confidence and self-esteem, and many residents look forward to their appointments as part of their regular routine. The salon itself is a bright, friendly space, thoughtfully designed to be fully accessible, with a calm and welcoming atmosphere. It’s all part of our commitment to promoting dignity, independence and wellbeing in every aspect of daily life.

Multi-Function Hub

Our multi-function hub is a versatile space at the heart of Maplebrook, designed to bring people together for a wide range of uses. Whether it’s hosting small group sessions, family visits, community meetings or tailored therapy activities, the hub provides a welcoming and adaptable environment that supports both care and connection. It’s used throughout the week for everything from arts and crafts and social events to quiet time with loved ones or one-to-one support. Fully accessible and thoughtfully laid out, the hub helps us respond flexibly to the needs and preferences of our residents, offering a calm and comfortable space that reflects the rhythm of life in the home.

Our cinema room, known as the Picture House, is a favourite spot for many residents – a cosy, deluxe space where people can enjoy everything from classic films and new releases to concerts, horse racing and live performances on the big screen. Designed to bring the full cinema experience into the heart of the home, it’s a place to relax, reminisce, and enjoy shared moments with others. Comfortable seating, soft lighting and high-quality sound make it a truly enjoyable space, whether used for group showings or quieter one-to-one sessions. For many residents, the cinema room offers a chance to unwind, feel connected and revisit familiar stories that spark memories and conversation.
