Our in-house cinema, known as the Picture House, brings entertainment, comfort and a little bit of luxury into everyday life at Maplebrook. Whether it’s a much-loved classic film, a live concert, or an afternoon of horse racing, the cinema room offers a relaxed and engaging space where residents can share a film (and maybe a box of popcorn).
The Picture House is a warm and welcoming space with soft lighting, comfortable seating and a large screen that brings the big-screen experience into the heart of the home. It’s fully accessible for all residents, including those with mobility needs, and offers a peaceful yet sociable environment where everyone can enjoy an activity that feels familiar, comforting and fun. Whether watching a favourite musical or enjoying a special themed afternoon, residents are supported to enjoy the experience in a way that suits them.
While our cinema room brings plenty of enjoyment, it also plays an important role in supporting wellbeing. For many residents, films and music can spark memories, start conversations and bring a real sense of togetherness. It’s especially valuable for those living with dementia, offering a familiar rhythm and sensory experience that can soothe, uplift and engage. We show a wide variety – from classic films and musicals to newer releases, live concerts, sporting events and themed screenings. Residents are encouraged to share their favourites and suggest what they’d like to see.
